Late Antique structures
A number of walls, most of which are from small-roomed buildings dating from the Late Antiquity, were uncovered in the excavations in this area. These walls made use of the substance of the arcades that once lined the Roman street that ran through this site. It was not, however, possible to recreate ground plans. However, the existence of a star-shaped channel heating system indicates that the square room was most likely part of a home or workshop. It is probable that new buildings were constructed here after Cologne was razed by the Franks, particularly in the years 355 and 356.
