Unlike the effigy of his brother Anton, that of Adolf III von Schauenburg (151156) wears a magnificent mitre. This is a reference to the fact that unlike his brother, Adolf had actually been ordained bishop. A bishop’s vestments include a mitre, cope, alb, pallium, gloves, and pectoral cross. The pectoral cross is shaped like a four-leaved flower and is richly decorated.
